Peak control made simple.
This manual explains what every control does, how to get good results fast, and how to avoid the most common clipping mistakes.
Welcome to G-Clipper Pro
G-Clipper Pro is a visual soft clipper. Its job is to catch the tallest, fastest peaks in your audio and shape them in a controlled way. That can make drums hit harder, bass feel denser, mixes feel louder, and limiters work less aggressively.
You do not need to understand audio engineering math to use this plugin. If you can hear whether something sounds punchier, cleaner, harsher, flatter, or more distorted, you can use G-Clipper Pro well.

- Install and activate it. Get the plugin into your DAW and ready to use.
- Understand every visible control. No mystery knobs.
- Clip without guessing. Use the Shaved Peaks meter and waveform display as guides.

1. 60-Second Quick Start
If you want to make sound better right now and learn the details later, start here.
- Insert G-Clipper Pro on a channel or bus. Try it on a kick, drum bus, bass, synth, or your mix bus.
- Choose CLEAN quality. It is the best everyday starting mode.
- Set MIX to 100%.
- Turn LINK on to keep output level more stable while you increase Drive.
- Start with PUNCH shape, the most general-purpose starting point.
- Loop the loudest section with the hardest hits or biggest peaks.
- Raise DRIVE slowly. Watch SHAVED PEAKS. Start around 1 to 2 dB of peak shaving.
- Listen for the tradeoff: more density or control without losing the punch, clarity, or character you care about.
- Try SMOOTH and TIGHT. Pick the shape that sounds best for the source.
- Use MATCH LEVELS, then BYPASS, to compare at similar loudness.
Do not chase a number. These ranges are starting points, not rules. If 0.4 dB sounds best, stop there. If 3 dB sounds great on a snare, that can be correct too.
2. What Soft Clipping Actually Does
2.1 Think of audio peaks like tall grass
Imagine the loudest spikes in a waveform are blades of grass sticking above a line. A clipper trims the parts above that line. Instead of letting those spikes get infinitely tall, it reshapes the very top of them.
The goal is often to remove a small amount of peak height so the sound feels more controlled and can reach a higher average loudness without one or two tiny spikes taking up all the headroom.
2.2 What “soft” clipping means
A very abrupt clip can sound sharp or crunchy. Soft clipping eases the signal into clipping more gradually. The harder you push a clipper, the more its sound becomes part of the music. Light clipping can be nearly invisible; heavy clipping can become an intentional effect.
2.3 Why producers use clippers
- Control fast transients from kicks, snares, percussion, and plucks.
- Make drums feel denser by reducing peak height while keeping energy.
- Tame bass peaks that jump above the rest.
- Prepare a mix for limiting so a limiter may need to work less hard.
- Create aggression or edge when that is the goal.
2.4 What G-Clipper Pro is not
- It is not a true-peak limiter. The TRUE PEAK meter reports the output; it does not promise a final dBTP ceiling.
- It is not a loudness target. More clipping is not automatically better mastering.
- It is not a repair button for a badly balanced, harsh, or already distorted source.
3. Installation
Always install from the official Gawergy package. Close your DAW before installing so it does not scan a plug-in while files are being copied.
3.1 macOS
- Unzip the download and open the extracted folder.
- Run the included macOS installer.
- Follow the on-screen or Terminal instructions. Your Mac password may not appear while you type; that is normal.
- If macOS blocks the installer, use System Settings > Privacy & Security only when your copy came from the official Gawergy download.
- Open your DAW and rescan plug-ins if needed.
Logic Pro normally uses Audio Units (AU). DAWs that support VST3 can use the VST3 version.
3.2 Windows
- Extract the ZIP before installing.
- Open the extracted folder and run the Windows installer.
- Approve the Windows prompt only if you downloaded the package from Gawergy.
- Open your DAW and rescan VST3 plug-ins if needed.
The installer uses the normal system plug-in location. You should not need to move plug-in files manually.
3.3 If your DAW cannot find it
- FL Studio: Open Manage plugins and run a scan.
- Ableton Live: Check Settings/Preferences > Plug-Ins and rescan.
- Logic Pro: Use Plug-in Manager if the AU does not validate or appear.
- Other DAWs: Look for a plug-in manager, refresh, scan, or rescan command.
Still missing? Restart the DAW, then the computer, and scan once more. Confirm you are using a 64-bit host that supports AU or VST3.
4. First Launch, Trial, and Activation
The first time G-Clipper Pro opens, follow the activation screen inside the plug-in.
- Paid license: Enter the purchase/license information exactly as provided.
- Trial: If a trial option is available in your build, choose it and follow the instructions.
- Finish activation: When activation succeeds, the normal interface opens.
4.1 Need to change license information?
Open Help, go to Activation, and use the available license-editing controls. If activation still fails, copy the exact error message and contact support.
4.2 Internet connection
Have an internet connection available when activating or checking for updates. Normal audio processing does not require you to manage any online system.

Best way to learn: Loop one hit or short pattern. Move one control at a time. Watch what changes and listen to what changes.
6. Main Controls
6.1 SHAPE
SHAPE changes the character of how the signal approaches clipping.

There is no best Shape. Start with PUNCH. Try SMOOTH if the sound feels too hard or TIGHT if the peaks feel too loose.
6.2 CEILING
CEILING sets where the clipping stage begins to stop peaks from continuing upward. Use it as a working threshold, not a final delivery level. Mix and Output happen afterward, and true peak can differ from sample peak.
6.3 DRIVE
DRIVE pushes more signal into the clipper. Low Drive means little clipping; moderate Drive gives more peak control and density; high Drive can create obvious clipping, saturation-like character, and flattened transients.
Play the loudest section and raise Drive until Shaved Peaks starts moving. Keep going only while the sound improves.
6.4 LINK
LINK couples Drive and Output for easier gain-compensated working. LINK on is best for judging tone and clipping amount without a large loudness jump; LINK off lets the controls move independently.
6.5 MIX
- 100%: fully processed and the normal start for precise peak control.
- Below 100%: parallel clipping; some original transient shape returns.
- 0%: original dry signal only.
When MIX is below 100%, original peaks are blended back in and can rise above the clipper's Ceiling. That is normal.
6.6 OUTPUT
OUTPUT is the final level control after clipping and Mix. Turn it down if the processed output is too loud. Raise it only when you intentionally need more final level, and watch TRUE PEAK when final peak level matters.
7. Waveform and Meters
7.1 The waveform display
The waveform helps answer whether only the tallest peaks touch the clipping area, whether many peaks are flattened, or whether one event creates most of the clipping.
7.2 LIVE / SLOW / HOLD
- LIVE: normal real-time movement.
- SLOW: slower motion for busy material.
- HOLD: freezes the visual view so you can inspect a moment.
If the display looks frozen, check HOLD first.
7.3 SHAVED PEAKS

These are listening guides, not rules.
7.4 TRUE PEAK
TRUE PEAK estimates the highest final output peak including peaks between samples. It is an output measurement, not a limiter. Use a dedicated true-peak limiter for a guaranteed final ceiling.
8. Bypass, Match Levels, A/B, Set, Undo, and Redo
8.1 BYPASS
BYPASS passes audio without clipping. Do not compare a much louder processed signal against a quieter bypassed one.
8.2 MATCH LEVELS
- Play a representative loud section.
- Click MATCH LEVELS.
- Let the plugin listen to enough audio.
- Toggle BYPASS and focus on punch, tone, distortion, clarity, and movement.
Match Levels is a comparison helper, not a mastering target.
8.3 A/B and SET
Use SET to store the comparison state shown by the interface, then compare A and B. Change only a few controls between states so you know why one wins.
8.4 Undo and Redo
The arrows reverse or reapply recent control changes. Use them when you move a knob too far or want to revisit a recent setting.
9. Quality Modes: Eco, Clean, Ultra

Produce and mix in CLEAN. Move non-critical instances to ECO if needed. Before export, try ULTRA on the important stage. Quality can affect CPU and host latency behavior; stop and restart playback if your DAW needs to update delay compensation.
10. Presets
Presets are starting points, not automatic mastering decisions. A preset cannot know your source level, so check Shaved Peaks after loading one.
10.1 Factory presets
Treat factory presets as read-only reference settings. Adjust Drive, Ceiling, and Output for your audio.
10.2 Saving your own preset
- Create a setting you want to reuse.
- Open the preset controls and choose save.
- Name it so Future You understands the source and purpose.
10.3 Rename, delete, import, and export
Manage user presets from the preset controls. Import/export is useful for moving presets or keeping a backup. Always recheck the loudest section after loading.
11. The Best General Workflow
- Put G-Clipper Pro where the peak problem is - track, bus, or master, not automatically everywhere.
- Choose CLEAN, PUNCH, MIX 100%, LINK on.
- Loop the loudest section.
- Raise DRIVE until Shaved Peaks begins to move. Start around 1 dB.
- Ask whether the source became more controlled without losing the attack or emotion you want.
- Try Smooth if it gets edgy and Tight for firmer control.
- Use MATCH LEVELS and BYPASS.
- Check TRUE PEAK and the next processor.
- Use ULTRA where final quality matters and CPU allows.
12. Practical Recipes
These are starting recipes, not laws. Adjust for the actual recording or sound.

12.1 Loud modern drums
- Use Punch, Clean, Mix 100%, Link on.
- Raise Drive until the hardest hits shave about 1-2 dB.
- Try Tight for a more direct feel.
- Match levels; back off if the groove gets smaller.
12.2 Bass with random peak notes
- Use Smooth or Punch and loop the loudest note.
- Raise Drive until only the biggest notes shave.
- Check small speakers and headphones for useful harmonics versus unwanted buzz.
12.3 Master before a limiter
- Place G-Clipper Pro before the final true-peak limiter.
- Use Smooth or Punch with very light clipping.
- Aim first for about 0.5-1 dB on the tallest peaks.
- Level-match the loudest section and reduce Drive if the mix becomes flatter, harsher, or smaller.
- Let the limiter handle the delivery ceiling and remaining peak control.
13. How Much Should You Clip?
There is no universal correct number. Transparent cleanup is often below about 1 dB; noticeable control is often around 1-3 dB; 3 dB or more is effect territory on the right sound. Start lighter on a full mix than on a single drum.
13.1 Signs you are clipping too much
- Kicks and snares lose their first hit.
- Cymbals or vocals become harsh.
- Bass becomes unintentionally fuzzy.
- The groove feels smaller even though the meter looks louder.
- The waveform stays heavily flattened and loses movement.
- You prefer it only before level matching.
13.2 Signs clipping is helping
- Peaks are controlled while the source stays alive.
- A later limiter has less work to do.
- The sound is denser without unwanted crunch.
- You still prefer it at equal loudness.
14. Where G-Clipper Pro Goes in a Signal Chain
14.1 On individual tracks
Put it after the processing that creates the peaks you want to control. If an EQ boost creates a new peak, clipping after that EQ can catch it.
14.2 Before or after compression?
Compression first and clipping after is a common start because the clipper catches peaks that remain. Clipping before compression can make the compressor react to a less spiky signal. Choose the order that sounds better.
14.3 On the master
A common order is broad tone/dynamics work, G-Clipper Pro for peak shaving, then a final true-peak limiter. Your chain can differ.
15. Parallel Clipping with Mix
- Create a clipped sound you like at 100% Mix.
- Lower Mix until some original transient shape returns.
- Compare against 100% wet and bypassed audio.
- Recheck True Peak because dry peaks can return above the Ceiling.
16. Fair Loudness Comparisons
A small loudness difference can make a version feel more exciting even when processing is worse.
- Use LINK while dialing Drive.
- Use MATCH LEVELS after meaningful changes.
- Toggle BYPASS during the same section.
- Listen for punch, harshness, clarity, depth, groove, and distortion.
- Turn monitor level down briefly; bad clipping can be easier to hear quietly.
If you still prefer the processed version at equal loudness, it is probably helping.
17. CPU and Session Performance
- While producing: use Clean; switch to Eco for headroom.
- Many instances: use Eco or Clean on less critical tracks.
- Final critical stage: try Ultra if playback is stable.
- Crackles or dropouts: lower Quality, raise DAW buffer size, freeze/bounce tracks, or reduce other heavy processing.
17.1 Latency
Your DAW normally handles delay compensation. If timing seems wrong after a Quality change, stop and restart playback. For live recording, use a lighter mode and sensible buffer.

19. Troubleshooting
G-Clipper Pro does not appear
- Install the correct extracted package.
- Restart the DAW and rescan.
- Restart the computer if needed.
- Confirm a 64-bit host with AU or VST3 support.
The plug-in opens but I hear no difference
- Play a loud section, turn Bypass off, set Mix to 100%, and raise Drive until Shaved Peaks moves.
The sound got much louder
- Turn Link on, use Match Levels, and reduce Output for an equal-level comparison.
TRUE PEAK is above CEILING
- This can be normal. Check Mix and Output, remember between-sample peaks, and use a true-peak limiter for strict dBTP delivery.
The waveform is not moving
- Check HOLD, confirm audio is playing, and toggle Live/Slow/Hold.
Match Levels does not seem useful
- Play a representative loud section, give it enough audio, then use Bypass and listen rather than expecting identical meters.
CPU is high or audio crackles
- Use Clean or Eco, increase the DAW buffer, freeze tracks, or reduce other heavy plug-ins.
A preset sounds too distorted
- Lower Drive or adjust Ceiling, then try another Shape.
Activation or update checks fail
- Check the internet connection, re-enter license details exactly, use Help > Activation, and use the official updates page if the in-plugin check cannot connect.
When contacting support, include operating system, DAW and version, G-Clipper Pro version, what you were doing, and the exact error. Never post a full license key publicly.

- Open Help and choose Updates.
- Use Check for Updates.

Should I put G-Clipper Pro on every track?
No. Use it where peak control or clipping character helps.
What Shape should I start with?
Punch. Try Smooth if it is too hard or Tight for firmer control.
What Quality should I use?
Clean for everyday work, Eco when CPU matters, Ultra for critical/final work if the system handles it.
How much Shaved Peaks is safe?
There is no universal safe number. Start around 1-2 dB on individual sounds and lighter on a full mix, then listen.
Can G-Clipper Pro replace my limiter?
Not when you need true-peak limiting or a guaranteed delivery ceiling.
Why does lowering Mix change peak level?
The original signal and its peaks are being blended back in.
Can I clip before a compressor?
Yes. Compare placement and keep the order that sounds better.
Can I use more than one clipper stage?
Yes, for a reason. Several light stages can sometimes beat one extreme stage, but do not add stages only to chase loudness.
Why does a factory preset clip too much?
Presets store settings, not knowledge of source level. Adjust Drive and Ceiling.
Should I trust the waveform or my ears?
Use both. The waveform shows what is happening; your ears decide whether it is good.
Why does louder almost always seem better?
Human hearing is biased by loudness. Use Link and Match Levels.
Should I master to one LUFS number with G-Clipper Pro?
No. It is a peak-shaping tool, not a loudness-normalization target.

- True Peak is sensible for the next processor.
- If I need a strict final dBTP ceiling, a true-peak limiter comes after G-Clipper Pro.
- The Quality mode is appropriate for export.
- I listened for harshness, fuzz, and flattened dynamics.
